Relações entre o bullying, a prática desportiva e o neuroticismo. Um estudo retrospetivo.

Resumo

Introdução: Um terço das crianças em todo o mundo sofre de bullying escolar, com taxas de prevalência entre os 10% e os 40%. Pesquisas registaram taxas de bullying de 8,9% a 27,3% em ambientes desportivos.

O estudo analisou como a relação do bullying escolar com a participação desportiva e o neuroticismo foi influenciada e como os desportos foram uma barreira às taxas de bullying específicas de género.

Metodologia: Foi realizado um estudo retrospetivo com 208 estudantes universitários. Foram utilizados questionários validados para avaliar o bullying escolar (Autoteste Cisneros) e o neuroticismo (NEO-FFI-3). A análise incluiu testes U de Mann-Whitney e regressão linear.

Resultados: Os atletas sofreram menos incidentes de bullying do que os não atletas. O teste U de Mann-Whitney detetou diferenças significativas entre os dois grupos, mas não encontrou diferenças entre os géneros. Uma análise de regressão linear mostrou que o envolvimento desportivo reduziu a frequência do bullying, enquanto o neuroticismo a aumentou e, em conjunto, foram responsáveis ​​por 20,3% da ocorrência de bullying.

Discussão: Os resultados da investigação apoiam a participação desportiva como uma barreira protectora contra o bullying escolar, ao mesmo tempo que confirmam o neuroticismo como um factor que aumenta o risco de bullying. O estudo não encontrou diferenças significativas de género, o que indica que são necessárias mais pesquisas.

Conclusões: O envolvimento desportivo é uma proteção contra o bullying escolar, enquanto que pontuações elevadas de neuroticismo criam mais probabilidade de se tornar vítima de bullying. Criar ambientes desportivos de apoio é a chave para o desenvolvimento de competências de gestão emocional.
