Retraction of articles

These are the guidelines on how Retos manages the debate after publication and makes corrections and retractions. Likewise, the articles that have been retracted and deleted will be reflected, indicating the reasons that have led to this. Complaints must be sent to the official email address of the journal: retosfeadef@gmail.com

If the journal receives a complaint for bad practices in research, publication and review originating from a complaint, it will immediately open a file to try to clarify what has been reported and make decisions on the matter. First, it will gather all the information on the matter. The complaint will be forwarded to the authors and they will be given a period of time to make the allegations they consider necessary as well as to provide the necessary evidence. Once this information has been gathered, or if there is no response, the file will be meticulously studied and analyzed by the Editorial Team; if necessary, external information will be gathered. Once the conclusions of the investigation carried out are established, it will be communicated to the authors so that they can respond to it within 48 hours. After this time, the Editorial Team will make a decision on the content of the complaint, which may or may not be the retraction of the article. Likewise, the sanction, if necessary, will be indicated to the authors. The result of this will be published in the journal for the knowledge of the community and in an exercise of further transparency. Sanctions will range from rectification to retraction of articles and a lifetime ban on authors or persons involved in very serious bad practices.

In the event of detecting an evident and palpable fraud, with absolutely clear evidence, in which a plot of authors may be involved, all articles implicated in it will be retracted immediately.

The journal is committed to carrying out all necessary investigations arising from the complaints received, which may or may not be anonymous. Any complaint will be analyzed in detail. We encourage the entire scientific community to report any conduct that may be considered bad practice.

Likewise, during the review and publication process, complaints may be sent by any of the people involved in the processes, whether they are reviewers, authors, or journal staff. All will be handled in the same way with the same mechanism described above.

Retraction Guidelines

  • Has clear evidence that the findings are unreliable, either as a result of a major error (e.g., miscalculation or experimental error), or as a result of fabrication (e.g., of data) or falsification (e.g., image manipulation)
  • Constitutes plagiarism
  • The findings have been previously published elsewhere without proper attribution to prior sources or disclosure to the editor, permission to republish, or justification (i.e., cases of redundant publication)
  • Contains material or data without authorization for use
  • Copyright has been infringed or there is some other serious legal issue (e.g., defamation, privacy)
  • Reports unethical research
  • Has been published solely on the basis of a compromised or manipulated peer review process
  • The author(s) did not disclose a significant competing interest (also known as a conflict of interest) that, in the opinion of the editor, would have improperly affected interpretations of the work or the recommendations of the editors and peer reviewers.
  • Include references that are not related to the topic of the article or the context in which they are cited.

Retraction notices will be:

  • Linked to the retracted article
  • Clearly identified as a retracted article specifically on the platform in the “Retraction of articles” tab
  • Depublished promptly to minimize harmful effects
  • Available to all readers
  • Indicated all authors who have had the article retracted
  • Indicated the reasons for the retraction
