Relationship between body measurements and performance in U23 category baseball: a correlative study

Objective: This study in-vestigated the relationship between goniometry, anth-ropometry, and manual isometric strength with swing speed in players from the Antioquia U23 baseball pre-selection. Methodology: this study adopted a non-experimental quantitative correlational explanatory approach, with a sample of 59 baseball players. A digital goniometer, dy-namometer, caliper, and swing analyzer were used. Results: significant differences were found in anthropometric variables and goniometry, especially according to playing posi-tion, highlighting height and internal hip rotation. Manual isometric strength was homogeneous. Conclusions: a regression model explained 56.7% of the variance in swing speed, highlighting the relevance of playing position and suggesting new lines of research to individualize training.
