Introduction: Civil liability in the sports field represents an essential component to ensure safe, regulated, and respectful practices that uphold the rights of participants. This issue has gained increasing relevance due to the rise in incidents linked to negligence or regulatory ignorance in sports settings.
Objective: The objective of this research was to analyze the level of knowledge, application, and institutional perception regarding civil liability among coaches, sports managers, and administrators, identifying its implications in risk management and prevention.
Methodology: A quantitative, non-experimental, descriptive and correlational study was conducted. A structured questionnaire was administered to a purposive sample of sports professionals. Descriptive and inferential statistical techniques were applied to analyze the data.
Results: The results revealed a medium-low level of knowledge about civil liability, limited effective application of internal regulations, and a fragmented institutional perception that hinders the development of preventive and formative policies in sports organizations.
Discussion: When contrasting these findings with existing literature, a consistent pattern emerged regarding the lack of legal training in the sports sector and the need to strengthen the legal dimension in management. The importance of having clear institutional structures and applicable regulations was also reaffirmed.
Conclusions: It was concluded that civil liability in sports must be systematically integrated into professional training and organizational management, fostering a culture of legality that ensures safer and more sustainable sports environments.
