Drop set versus protocolos tradicionais de treino de força de igual volume na espessura muscular em mulheres

Resumo

Objectivo: O objectivo deste estudo foi investigar os efeitos de dois protocolos de treino de força, emparelhados em volume, na espessura do músculo flexor do cotovelo (MT) em mulheres. Métodos: Vinte e sete mulheres (média ± DP, idade, 21,89 ± 2,85 anos; altura, 167,82 ± 5,90 cm; massa corporal, 63,01 ± 7,20 kg; estimativa da massa gorda corporal , 19,19 ± 2,88%) foram divididas em três grupos experimentais: grupo drop-set (DS), grupo tradicional (TR) e grupo controlo (GC). O GC manteve o treino regular de força sem realizar qualquer exercício para a parte superior do corpo. O grupo DS realizou rosca bíceps com halteres durante dois dias por semana, 12 semanas, 4 séries de 3 blocos de 10 repetições a 75%, 55% e 35% da sua 1 Repetição Máxima (RM) e 8 séries de 11 repetições em 75 % de 1RM para o protocolo TR. O intervalo de descanso entre séries foi de 120 segundos. O TM foi adquirido na face anterior de ambos os braços a 50% e 60% da distância entre o epicôndilo lateral do úmero e o processo acromial da omoplata antes (T0) e após as 24 sessões de treino (T1). Resultados: Verificou-se um aumento significativo em todas as medidas de TM entre T0 e T1 para os grupos de treino (p<0,05). Além disso, foram encontrados valores de MT significativamente mais elevados nos grupos de treino em comparação com o grupo de controlo para todas as medidas locais em T1 (p<0,05). Não foram encontradas diferenças significativas entre os grupos de treino para MT. Conclusão: Verifica-se que ambos os grupos de treino (DS e TR) foram eficazes na promoção da MT dos músculos flexores do cotovelo de mulheres jovens, não havendo diferenças entre as estratégias de treino.
