Existe uma relação entre a aptidão física e a forma como vai e volta da escola? Resultados de um inquérito sobre o desempenho escolar e a saúde no sul do Chile em 2018

Embora a investigação atual indique que o modo ativo de deslocação influencia a saúde dos escolares, sabe-se menos o que se sabe sobre a relação entre a condição física auto-referida e a sua relação com o modo de deslocação ativa de e para a escola (ACS). Os objetivos deste estudo foram a) analisar a aptidão física autorreferida e a SCA, e b) determinar a associação entre a aptidão física autorreferida e a SCA através de um inquérito realizado no sul do Chile. Foi realizado um desenho analítico transversal. A amostra foi constituída por 733 escolares (10 a 16 anos, 46,1% raparigas) de escolas públicas chilenas. A Escala Internacional de Aptidão (IFIS) foi utilizada para determinar a aptidão física auto-referida. Os modos de deslocação dos alunos para a escola foram avaliados através de questões separadas sobre ACS. Os principais resultados mostraram que os rapazes apresentaram melhor aptidão física auto-referida do que as raparigas, exceto na autoperceção de flexibilidade (p= 0,041). Além disso, observou-se uma associação entre o tipo de SCA e a flexibilidade auto-referida (OR:1,53, p=0,022; OR:1,47, p= 0,036), associação que se manteve quando ajustado para o sexo e a idade (OR: 1,55, p=0,020; OR:1,50, p= 0,030), a velocidade e a agilidade auto-referidas apenas se associaram ao movimento ativo desde a escola (OR:1,60, p=0,005), também após o modelo ajustado ( OR:1,81, p=0,024). Concluindo, este estudo fornece evidências sobre a relação entre a aptidão física auto-referida e as formas de SCA. Para promover a saúde dos escolares, devem ser procuradas estratégias que favoreçam os ACS.
