Influência da atividade física no equilíbrio infantil: um estudo transversal

Resumo

Objectivo: O objectivo deste trabalho é avaliar as diferenças no equilíbrio das crianças que realizam a actividade física em comparação com as que não a realizam.
Metodologia: Foi realizado um estudo observacional transversal na população infantil (N=130). Foram estabelecidos dois grupos de estudo: grupo sem atividade física (n=68) e grupo com atividade física (n=62). As medidas de resultado foram o teste de Romberg (com os olhos abertos e cerrados), o teste de apoio com uma sola pierna (com os olhos abertos e cerrados) e o teste de superfície inestável (com os olhos abertos e cerrados). Se valorizou a habilidade e o tempo que mantinham o equilíbrio. Foi empregue um intervalo de confiança de 95% (IC 95%), sendo que todos os valores com um valor de p inferior a 0,05 são considerados estadísticamente significativos.
Resultados: A prova t-Student revelou resultados estadísticamente significativos a favor do grupo de crianças que realizaram atividades físicas para as medidas de habilitação para realizar o teste de Romberg com os olhos cerrados (p<0,001); habilidade para a superfície inestável com os olhos abertos e com os olhos cerrados (p=0,03 e p<0,001 respectivamente); capacidade para o teste de manter o equilíbrio com uma pedra com os olhos abertos e com os olhos cerrados (p<0,002 e p<0,001, respetivamente); e tempo de apoio com uma pedra de olhos cerrados (p<0,004).
Conclusões: As crianças que realizam atividade física têm uma maior capacidade para manter o equilíbrio em comparação com as crianças que não realizam atividade física.
