Associações conjuntas da participação desportiva e do tempo de ecrã do smartphone com a ansiedade entre adolescentes escolares

Resumo

Investigar a associação conjunta da participação desportiva e do tempo de ecrã do smartphone (TP) com os sintomas de ansiedade em adolescentes escolares. Este estudo transversal incluiu 142 adolescentes brasileiros do ensino secundário de uma escola pública federal. Os sintomas de ansiedade foram avaliados através da Escala de Ansiedade para Crianças, com um ponto de corte ≥ 30. A participação desportiva foi medida através do Questionário de Atividade Física Habitual para Adolescentes, classificando os participantes como praticantes de prática desportiva ou não. O TP foi medido através da função de bem-estar digital do smartphone, categorizando os participantes em TP baixo e TP alto com base na mediana. Os participantes foram distribuídos por quatro grupos: participação desportiva + baixo TP, participação desportiva + alto TP, participação não desportiva + baixo TP e participação não desportiva + alto TP (grupo de referência). A análise foi realizada através de regressão de Poisson com variância robusta para o cálculo da razão de prevalência (RP) e intervalos de confiança (IC) a 95% para a ansiedade entre os grupos. A prevalência de ansiedade foi de 41,5% (IC 95%: 33,6; 50,0). O grupo participação desportiva + baixa DP apresentou menor prevalência de ansiedade em comparação com o grupo de referência (RP 0,52, IC 95%: 0,28, 0,94, p = 0,031). Os restantes grupos não apresentaram associação significativa com o grupo de referência (p > 0,05). Concluindo, a prática desportiva associada a um baixo TP nos smartphones está relacionada com uma menor prevalência de sintomas de ansiedade nos adolescentes em idade escolar.
