Investigar a relação entre a autoestima, a insatisfação corporal e a alimentação emocional numa amostra de estudantes universitários: um estudo correlacional

A educação universitária representa uma etapa importante no desenvolvimento pessoal e académico dos estudantes. Durante este período, os jovens enfrentam desafios que podem afetar vários aspetos da sua vida, como a autoestima, a imagem corporal e os hábitos alimentares. O objetivo desta investigação foi determinar se existe relação entre a autoestima, a insatisfação corporal e a alimentação emocional numa amostra de estudantes universitários peruanos. Foi realizado um estudo quantitativo, não experimental, correlacional e transversal. A amostra foi constituída por 297 estudantes selecionados através de amostragem probabilística aos quais foi aplicada a Escala de Autoestima de Rosenberg, o Questionário de Forma Corporal (BSQ-14) e o Questionário de Alimentação Emocional, instrumentos com propriedades psicométricas adequadas. Os achados preliminares revelaram que os estudantes apresentavam um nível moderado de autoestima e não experienciavam insatisfação corporal; no entanto, o nível de alimentação emocional reportado foi elevado. Além disso, verificou-se que a autoestima estava inversa e significativamente correlacionada com a insatisfação corporal (rs = -0,434, p < 0,01) e com a alimentação emocional (rs = -0,337, p < 0,01). Da mesma forma, foi observada uma correlação direta e significativa entre a insatisfação corporal e a alimentação emocional (rs = 0,646, p < 0,01). Concluiu-se que existe uma relação entre a autoestima, a insatisfação corporal e a alimentação emocional numa amostra de estudantes universitários peruanos. Assim, recomenda-se que as universidades implementem programas de intervenção focados na educação emocional, que promovam o desenvolvimento da autoestima e de uma imagem corporal positiva.
