Um estudo sobre a motivação para o exercício em estudantes do ensino secundário: explorando os papéis da participação desportiva, da educação física, da saúde e do movimento humano

Resumo

Objectivo: Este estudo procura explorar os factores que influenciam a motivação para o exercício em alunos do ensino secundário, com um foco específico no papel da participação desportiva, da participação em educação física (EF), da percepção do estado de saúde e da consciência do movimento humano. Ao examinar estas variáveis, a investigação procura compreender como estas contribuem para diversas dimensões motivacionais, incluindo a motivação, a motivação extrínseca e a motivação intrínseca.

Método: Foi utilizado um desenho de investigação quantitativa e correlacional, com dados recolhidos de 315 alunos do ensino secundário participantes em programas de educação desportiva. Os participantes responderam a um questionário estruturado, presencial, avaliando a sua participação desportiva, participação em educação física, perceção do estado de saúde, consciência do movimento humano e motivação para o exercício. Os dados foram analisados ​​utilizando o SmartPLS 4, uma ferramenta de modelação de equações estruturais por mínimos quadrados parciais (PLS-SEM).

Resultados: Os resultados revelaram relações positivas significativas entre as quatro variáveis ​​independentes (participação desportiva, participação em educação física, perceção do estado de saúde e consciência do movimento) e a motivação para o exercício. Especificamente, verificou-se que a participação desportiva e a participação em educação física reduzem a motivação e aumentam tanto a motivação extrínseca como a intrínseca. O estado de saúde percebido e a consciência do movimento foram também fortes preditores da motivação, contribuindo para níveis mais elevados de motivação autodeterminada e de participação em atividades físicas.

Originalidade/Implicações: Este estudo contribui para a compreensão da motivação para o exercício em adolescentes, oferecendo insights práticos para educadores e decisores políticos. Os resultados enfatizam a importância de promover programas desportivos inclusivos e currículos de educação física que promovam a motivação intrínseca e hábitos de atividade física a longo prazo entre os alunos do ensino secundário.
