Platelet rich plasma in knee osteoarthritis; sydtematic review and met-analysis (2020-2026)

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of platelet-rich plasma (PRP) in knee osteoarthritis through a systematic review and meta-analysis.
Methods: PRISMA 2020-guided systematic review including randomized controlled trials published from January 2020 to February 2026. Risk of bias was assessed with RoB 2 and certainty of evidence with GRADE.
Results: Eighteen trials (n=1,245) were included. PRP significantly reduced pain (SMD -0.65; 95%CI -0.82 to -0.48; I²=42%) and improved WOMAC scores. Twelve studies were judged as low overall risk of bias and six as some concerns.
Conclusions: PRP is an effective and safe option in mild-to-moderate knee osteoarthritis, although protocol heterogeneity remains a major limitation.
