Abstract

Introduction: The study examined the relationship between perceived service quality and parental evaluation in the context of youth football, considering its relevance for grassroots sport management. This relationship was analyzed from an empirical perspective applied to a Peruvian sports academy.

Objective: The objective of the study was to analyze the effect of perceived service quality on parental evaluation of the service in a youth football academy using a structural equation modeling approach.

Methodology: A quantitative study was conducted using a non-experimental, cross-sectional design with a single-case study approach. The sample consisted of 104 parents of children enrolled in a football academy in Peru. Data were collected באמצעות a structured questionnaire using a five-point Likert scale. Perceived service quality was measured through five dimensions: tangibles, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, and empathy. Parental evaluation was conceptualized as a second-order construct composed of trust and satisfaction. Data analysis was performed using Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with Maximum Likelihood estimation.

Results: The findings indicated satisfactory model fit indices and revealed that perceived service quality had a direct, positive, and statistically significant effect on parental evaluation (β = .978; p < .001).

Discussion: The results were consistent with previous studies highlighting the critical role of service quality in fostering trust and satisfaction in youth sport settings.

Conclusions: It is concluded that perceived service quality represents the primary structural determinant of parental evaluation in youth football academies, with relevant implications for the strategic management of grassroots sport.
