A educação física que recordamos: experiências escolares e atividade física em adultos: uma revisão sistemática

Contexto: A inatividade física afeta 66,2% da população adulta no Chile (Ministério do Desporto, 2024). A educação física escolar é o único espaço institucional garantido para a prática de atividade física (AF) para toda a população escolar; no entanto, as evidências sugerem que a qualidade afetiva das experiências vividas durante esta disciplina — mais do que a sua mera quantidade — molda as atitudes e os níveis de AF na vida adulta.
Objectivo: Sintetizar a evidência científica disponível sobre a relação entre as memórias da educação física escolar e a prática de AF em adultos, analisando os mecanismos afectivos, motivacionais e comportamentais que medeiam esta relação, com ênfase no contexto chileno.
Método: Revisão sistemática com síntese quantitativa seguindo as diretrizes PRISMA 2020. As pesquisas foram realizadas na PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, SciELO, LILACS e Google Scholar (2010–2026). A qualidade metodológica foi avaliada através da escala NOS (estudos observacionais), da escala PEDro (estudos intervencionais) e da escala CASP (estudos qualitativos/métodos mistos). Os tamanhos do efeito (r de Pearson) com intervalos de confiança de 95% foram calculados utilizando um modelo de efeitos aleatórios.
Resultados: De 1.284 registos identificados, 31 estudos com dados primários cumpriram os critérios de inclusão (18 estudos transversais retrospetivos, 9 longitudinais, 4 qualitativos/de métodos mistos; N cumulativo ≈ 42.000 participantes). O prazer com a atividade física foi associado a atitudes mais favoráveis em relação à atividade física (r = 0,37; IC 95%: 0,31–0,43) e a um menor comportamento sedentário (r = −0,14; IC 95%: −0,21–−0,07). A exclusão social na educação física prediz a inatividade na idade adulta (r = −0,22; IC 95%: −0,30–−0,14). O seguimento da atividade física desde a infância até à idade adulta é baixo, mas significativo (r = 0,14–0,19) e mediado por variáveis motivacionais. As diferenças de género são consistentes: as mulheres relatam mais experiências negativas e apresentam maior inatividade na idade adulta.
Conclusões: As memórias das aulas de Educação Física na escola constituem um determinante relevante da prática de Educação Física na idade adulta, mediado pelo prazer, pela perceção de competência e pela motivação autónoma. No Chile, onde a investigação específica sobre esta relação é escassa, estes achados justificam a reformulação pedagógica da Educação Física no sentido de experiências inclusivas e significativas para todos os alunos.
