The identification of talent is an important aspect in building competitive sports and there are few organized systems of identification of talent in specially-abled cricket players. The increasing popularity of adaptive sports can also drive the necessity to develop comprehensive and evidence-based talent identification guidelines. This research was aimed at devising and testing an integrated model which integrates physical, cognitive as well as skill-based indicators to determine the potential talent in the form of specially-abled players in cricket. The study took the form of quantitative cross-sectional design where 100 specially-abled cricket athletes aged 16-35 years were undergoing adaptive cricket programs. The data were obtained by using standardized tests that were designed to test physical performance (speed, agility, endurance, and strength), cognitive (reaction time, decision-making, and game awareness), and cricket-related technical skills (batting accuracy, bowling consistency, and fielding efficiency). Descriptive statistics, correlation analysis, and multiple regression were used to obtain statistical analysis to ascertain the relative contribution of each variable to the overall score of talent identification. The findings explained that performance on skills was the most proficient predictor of talent identification, then cognitive capabilities and signs of physical fitness. Players with balanced performance with respect to all the three areas were ranked higher. The results indicate that a combined multidimensional assessment model is achievable to enhance the quality of talent identification and the impartiality of the practice in adaptive cricket. This method can help coaches, sports academies and governing institutions to formulate systematic and encompassing strategies on scouting and nurturing of specially-enabled cricket talents.
