Efeitos do Karatê na função cognitiva, física e no bem-estar emocional de adultos com mais de 60 anos: uma revisão sistemática

Introdução: O envelhecimento faz parte do ciclo de vida do ser humano, acarretando mudanças físicas, sociais e psicológicas. As artes marciais têm relatado benefícios na saúde física e mental de pessoas mais velhas.
Objetivo: Analisar as evidências sobre os efeitos do caratê na função cognitiva, função física e bem-estar emocional em pessoas com mais de 60 anos de idade.
Metodologia: Foi realizada uma revisão sistemática nas bases de dados Medline (via Pubmed), Web of Science, Sportdiscus, Rehabilitation e Sports Medicine Source, com ensaios clínicos randomizados e não randomizados publicados em inglês e espanhol entre 2010 e 2024. Foram encontrados 491 artigos, onde apenas 6 atendiam aos critérios de utilização da prática do karatê como intervenção em idosos saudáveis. A qualidade metodológica dos estudos foi analisada por meio da escala Testex.
Resultados: Os estudos realizaram intervenções de prática de karatê com duração de 8 a 40 semanas, com frequência de 1 ou 2 vezes por semana e duração de 60 minutos. A maioria relatou melhorias no bem-estar emocional, reatividade motora, velocidade de processamento cognitivo, memória, atenção dividida, funções executivas, melhorias na velocidade de caminhada e tempo de passo e equilíbrio dinâmico.
Conclusões: A prática regular de karaté em adultos saudáveis com mais de 60 anos de idade teve efeitos benéficos na função cognitiva, no bem-estar emocional e na função física.
