O papel da participação desportiva no fomento da socialização e no desenvolvimento dos jovens na Namíbia

Introdução: O desporto desempenha um papel fundamental na socialização e no desenvolvimento dos jovens, fomentando a liderança, o crescimento pessoal e a coesão comunitária. No contexto da Namíbia, apesar das persistentes disparidades sociais e de uma infra-estrutura limitada, a compreensão do impacto multifacético do desporto na juventude torna-se particularmente crucial.
Objectivo: Este estúdio procura explorar o papel do desporto na formação do comportamento social, na promoção da liderança, na luta contra as disparidades de género e na avaliação das implicações económicas.
Método: Foi empregue uma abordagem de métodos mistos, combinando perguntas quantitativas (n = 300) com entrevistas qualitativas e debates em grupos focais (n = 20) com jovens atletas, empreendedores e responsáveis políticos. Os dados quantitativos foram analisados através de técnicas de correlação e regressão, enquanto a análise temática orientou a interpretação das respostas qualitativas.
Hallazgos: Os resultados quantitativos revelaram uma forte correlação positiva (r = 0,72; p < 0,01) entre a participação desportiva e o desenvolvimento da liderança. A análise de regressão mostrou que os programas desportivos estruturados predizem significativamente uma melhoria do comportamento social (β = 0,65; p < 0,01). Sem embargo, barreiras como as limitações financeiras, a discriminação de género e as limitações de infraestrutura obstaculizaram uma participação mais ampla, especialmente em assentamentos informais. As entrevistas mostram que a influência dos pares e a mentoria dos treinadores impulsionam a participação desportiva juvenil, fomentando a confiança, a disciplina e a inclusão social. Se bem as raparigas se sentirem empoderadas, os preconceitos de género e a falta de treinadoras continuarão a ser obstáculos. Os jovens das zonas informais informavam sobre instalações deficientes, mas mostravam um grande interesse pelo desporto inclusivo.
Conclusão: O desporto fomenta a liderança e a coesão juvenil, mas enfrenta dificuldades de acesso devido às paridades socioeconómicas e de género. São recomendadas inversões específicas de infraestruturas, formação inclusiva em termos de género e integração de competências para a vida. Os programas liderados pela comunidade e com apoio de pares
