Sintomas menstruais e perceção de esforço em jogadoras dos escalões de Sub-14 e Sub-16 da seleção chilena feminina de andebol

Introdução: A prática desportiva em raparigas adolescentes exige a consideração de fatores fisiológicos e emocionais que podem influenciar o desempenho. Entre eles, o ciclo menstrual destaca-se como uma variável relevante, afetando a perceção de esforço e a tolerância à carga de treino. Apesar do crescente interesse pelo tema, existem evidências limitadas em desportos coletivos e em contextos latino-americanos, especialmente em populações jovens.
Objectivo: Identificar os sintomas mais frequentes durante a fase menstrual e a sua relação com a percepção de esforço em jogadoras de andebol chilenas.
Método: Foi realizado um estudo transversal com 48 jogadoras da seleção chilena feminina de andebol, nas categorias sub-14 (n = 20; idade = 12–14 anos) e sub-16 (n = 28; idade = 15–16 anos). A perceção de esforço foi avaliada através da escala de Borg modificada e os sintomas menstruais foram avaliados através de um questionário estruturado.
Resultados: 18,8% das jogadoras reportaram uma pontuação de Borg de 6. O grupo sub-14 apresentou, na sua maioria, uma pontuação de Borg de 6 (25%), enquanto o grupo sub-16 apresentou uma pontuação de Borg de 7 (21,4%). Os sintomas mais frequentes foram dor abdominal (33,3%), distensão abdominal e desejos alimentares (16,7% cada). Observou-se uma associação entre os sintomas menstruais e a perceção de esforço (χ² = 26,36; p = 0,049), embora com baixa concordância (Kappa = 0,016).
Conclusão: Os sintomas mais frequentes foram dor abdominal, desejos alimentares e distensão abdominal. As associações com a perceção de esforço foram significativas, mas fracas. Estudos futuros devem incorporar variáveis como a carga de treino e a intensidade dos sintomas para uma compreensão mais abrangente.
