Impactos do pilates face ao treino aeróbio na função pulmonar e nos marcadores de condição física em adultos maiores

Resumo

Introdução: Está demonstrado que o método Pilates melhora a função pulmonar e a condição física em adultos de maior porte. No entanto, os estúdios que comparam diretamente o Pilates com o exercício aeróbico são ainda limitados e inconclusivos.

Objectivo: Este estúdio investigou os efeitos do treino de Pilates e do exercício aeróbico na função pulmonar, na força dos músculos do core, na flexibilidade e na condição cardiorrespiratória em adultos de maior porte.

Metodologia: Veintinueve adultos mayores fueron atribuídos aleatoriamente a três grupos: grupo controlo, grupo Pilates ou grupo aeróbio. O grupo Pilates realizou exercícios de Pilates; o grupo aeróbio participou numa marcha em cinta rodante de intensidade moderada; e o grupo controla as suas rotinas habituais. Ambas as intervenções se levaram a cabo durante 60 minutos, três vezes por semana, durante duas semanas. Os resultados são avaliados antes e depois da intervenção através de uma ANOVA de medidas repetidas de dois fatores.

Resultados: Os resultados mostram que tanto o grupo Pilates como o grupo aeróbio melhoraram significativamente a função pulmonar, a força do core, a flexibilidade e o desempenho cardiorrespiratório em comparação com o pré-teste e o grupo controlo (p < 0,05). Além disso, o grupo Pilates apresentou uma melhoria significativa na força do core através da tentativa de plancha em comparação com o grupo aeróbico (p < 0,05).

Discussão: Os hallazgos coincidem com investigações anteriores, confirmando que tanto o Pilates como o exercício aeróbico melhoram a função pulmonar e a condição física em adultos de maior porte. No entanto, os participantes que realizaram o programa de Pilates obtiveram maiores benefícios na função pulmonar, força central e flexibilidade.

Conclusões: O treino com Pilates e o exercício aeróbico melhoram a condição física em adultos mais velhos, sendo o Pilates a opção que oferece benefícios mais abrangentes para um desenvolvimento saudável.
