Efeito da perseverança na adesão a um programa de controlo de peso em adultos

Objectivo: Este estudo teve como objectivo avaliar o efeito da perseverança na adesão a um programa de intervenção para controlo de peso de seis meses em adultos.
Metodologia: Foi realizado um estudo experimental de séries temporais com a duração de seis meses (sete avaliações). A amostra foi constituída por um grupo experimental (n=9; idade: 36,89±7,59 anos; IMC: 34,71±5,77 kg/m²) e um grupo controlo (n=10; idade: 33,40±10,84 anos; IMC: 33,60±5,40 kg/m²). Ambos os grupos receberam um programa de treino e dieta. Apenas o grupo experimental recebeu o programa de perseverança. Foram utilizados os seguintes instrumentos: a Escala de Perseverança de Metabolismo (TMGS), o Questionário de Autoeficácia, o BREQ-3, a Escala de Estágios de Mudança (versão curta), o Questionário de Hábitos Alimentares, o OEE, indicadores de adesão ao exercício/dieta e medidas antropométricas.
Resultados: As análises de fiabilidade e consistência interna dos instrumentos variaram entre 0,70 a 0,96 no alfa de Cronbach. Embora tenham sido observados efeitos significativos ao longo do tempo (p < 0,05) para os hábitos alimentares, a circunferência da cintura, a relação cintura-anca e a massa gorda na antropometria e na análise de bioimpedância, não foram encontrados efeitos significativos entre os grupos ou entre os grupos e o tempo. Isto pode ser atribuído às variações entre as sete medidas, com alterações semelhantes entre os grupos.
Conclusão: Os níveis de perseverança permaneceram estáveis e não se traduziram numa maior adesão às diretrizes de exercício ou dieta. Isto sugere que o desenvolvimento da perseverança interna por si só é insuficiente para modificar os comportamentos de saúde nos programas de controlo do peso e realça a necessidade de integrar estratégias de apoio externo para fortalecer a adesão e promover mudanças sustentadas nos hábitos.
