Diferenças entre áreas rurais e urbanas na coordenação motora ampla e no índice de massa corporal em crianças indonésias dos 7 aos 9 anos de idade

Introdução: A coordenação motora grossa é fundamental para o desenvolvimento físico das crianças e é influenciada pelo índice de massa corporal e pelo contexto residencial. No entanto, as diferenças rural–urbanas na relação entre coordenação motora grossa e IMC permanecem pouco estudadas em crianças indonésias.
Metodologia: Um total de 396 crianças com idades entre 7 e 9 anos, provenientes de Sumatra Ocidental, Indonésia, participaram deste estudo transversal. O IMC foi classificado utilizando os padrões da OMS de 2007. A coordenação motora grossa foi avaliada por meio da bateria KTK3+, composta por equilíbrio na trave, saltos laterais, deslocamentos laterais e coordenação óculo-manual. Foram realizadas análises MANOVA com testes post hoc de Bonferroni e análises discriminantes lineares específicas por localização.
Resultados: As crianças rurais superaram significativamente seus pares urbanos no equilíbrio na trave (F = 7.474; p = .007; ηp² = .019), nos saltos laterais (F = 26.244; p < .001; ηp² = .064) e na coordenação óculo-manual (F = 8.508; p = .004; ηp² = .022), com a vantagem rural aumentando com a idade (Idade × Localização para coordenação óculo-manual: ηp² = .093). Os deslocamentos laterais não apresentaram efeito significativo da localização (p = .926). A análise discriminante linear específica por localização revelou que o equilíbrio na trave foi o principal discriminador do IMC em crianças rurais (r = .910), enquanto os saltos laterais predominaram em crianças urbanas (r = .859). De forma crítica, 86% das crianças apresentaram baixo peso ou baixo peso grave, sendo que as crianças urbanas exibiram, de forma paradoxal, uma taxa mais elevada de baixo peso grave (75,0%) em comparação com seus pares rurais (66,3%).
Conclusões: As crianças indonésias de áreas rurais demonstraram trajetórias superiores de coordenação motora grossa ao longo da infância intermediária. A relação entre IMC e coordenação motora grossa dependente do contexto, bem como a dupla carga de desnutrição em ambos os contextos, exigem intervenções integradas em educação física e nutrição sensíveis à localização.
