Configurações do treino de força e pressão arterial em repouso em mulheres idosas: um ensaio clínico randomizado de 16 semanas

Resumo

Introdução: O treino de força pode contribuir para o envelhecimento saudável e para o controlo da pressão arterial, mas as comparações entre diferentes configurações de treino em mulheres idosas são ainda limitadas.   Objectivo: Este estudo comparou o treino de força com um grupo de controlo e examinou a pressão arterial em quatro configurações de treino.   Metodologia: De 145 mulheres idosas randomizadas por sorteio simples, 95 completaram 16 semanas de treino: Controlo (n = 19), treino tradicional (n = 17), treino de potência (n = 18), treino de força-resistência (n = 20) e treino de força absoluta (n = 21). O treino foi realizado duas vezes por semana. A pressão arterial em repouso foi avaliada no início do estudo e nas semanas 4, 8 e 16.   Resultados: O treino em grupo versus o grupo controlo apresentou uma interação significativa entre o grupo e o tempo para a pressão arterial sistólica (p = 0,007). O treino em grupo apresentou valores mais baixos nas semanas 4, 8 e 16 em comparação com o início do estudo (todos p < 0,001), enquanto o grupo de controlo se manteve inalterado. Entre as semanas 8 e 16, não foi detetado qualquer efeito de grupo ou interação ao analisar separadamente as quatro configurações de treino e o grupo de controlo. A pressão arterial diastólica apresentou um efeito global do tempo, sem efeitos de grupo ou de interação.   Discussão: A resposta mais consistente foi uma redução sustentada da pressão arterial sistólica quando se considerou o treino de força como um todo; a análise específica não identificou uma configuração superior.   Conclusões: O treino de força foi associado a uma menor pressão arterial sistólica em repouso. Como não foi detetada superioridade estatisticamente significativa entre as configurações de treino, a seleção do protocolo pode também considerar os objetivos funcionais, a tolerância e a adesão na população estudada.
