Resposta diferencial ao dano muscular do polimorfismo ACTN3 R577X em atletas adolescentes do sexo masculino de badminton

Resumo

Introdução: Os movimentos explosivos do badminton acarretam um elevado risco de lesão muscular. Este estudo investiga a relação entre o polimorfismo ACTN3 R577X e os biomarcadores de dano muscular creatina quinasa (CK) e mioglobina, em atletas adolescentes do sexo masculino de badminton após a Prueba de Fatiga de Bádminton (BFT, pelas suas siglas em inglês).

Metodologia: Este estudo observacional longitudinal utilizou um projeto pré-pós com a participação de 30 atletas do sexo masculino. Os participantes foram categorizados de acordo com o genótipo ACTN3 nos grupos RR (n=8), RX (n=13) e XX (n=9) antes de passarem para o BFT para induzir danos musculares. Os níveis de biomarcadores são avaliados em três momentos: pré-teste, 1 hora pós-BFT e 24 horas pós-BFT.

Resultados: A ANOVA de medidas repetidas revelou um aumento significativo da CK e da mioglobina (p<0,001) em todas as variantes genéticas em ambos os pontos temporais pós-BFT. Uma ANOVA bidirecional não mostrou uma interação significativa entre o genótipo e o tempo para os níveis de CK (p=0,404), mas indicou uma diferença significativa para a mioglobina (p=0,038). Além das diferenças na carreira de significância estatística da CK, a análise do d de Cohen demonstrou um tamanho de efeito de moderado a grande (0,8–1,4), o que indica maiores respostas de CK e mioglobina na variante XX (deficiência de α-actinina-3) em comparação com os outros genótipos em ambas as medidas posteriores a la teste.

Conclusões: A ausência da proteína α-actinina-3 (genótipo XX) está associada a uma resposta de dano muscular substancialmente maior. Isto é de importância prática, pois demonstra o aumento estatístico significativo dos níveis de mioglobina para além da fadiga inducida.
