Introduction: Motivation and attitude toward reading are determining factors in students’ academic performance and overall development.
Objective: In this context, the impact of an intervention based on motivational strategies and interactive dynamics was evaluated to improve students' motivation and attitude toward reading. The aim of the research was to analyze the impact of incorporating literature as a motivational tool in physical education and sports classes in educational institutions in Ecuador.
Methodology: A quasi-experimental design was used, including an experimental group and a control group. The sample consisted of 120 students, evenly divided between the two groups. The Physical Education Motivation Scale (EMEF) and a questionnaire on reading attitude were applied before and after the intervention. Independent and paired t-tests were used for data analysis.
Results: The results showed significant improvements in intrinsic motivation and identification with reading in the experimental group, while demotivation decreased considerably.
Discussion: When comparing these findings with previous research, it was confirmed that literature can be connected to sports and physical activities through motivational and self-improvement strategies.
Conclusion: It was concluded that the implementation of active and interdisciplinary methodologies contributed to improving motivation and attitude toward reading, highlighting the need to continue exploring innovative approaches in teaching.
