Introduction: This study addressed the impact of the Peruvian Institute of Sport's "Inclusive Sport 2023" program on the quality of life of young people with disabilities in Peru. It was considered relevant to analyze how these types of interventions contribute to the overall well-being of this population.
Objective: To analyze the program's influence on the quality of life of young people with disabilities, considering physical, emotional, social, and inclusion dimensions, from a quantitative and qualitative perspective.
Methodology: A mixed approach with a sequential explanatory design was applied. The quantitative phase was non-experimental and cross-sectional, with a random sample of 256 participants who completed the adapted APRADDIS and GENCAT questionnaires. In the qualitative phase, semi-structured interviews were conducted with 10 inclusive sport experts, whose testimonies were analyzed using atlas.ti.
Results: Quantitative findings revealed significant improvements (p < 0.05) in physical and emotional well-being, interpersonal relationships, and social inclusion. Qualitative data supported these results, highlighting advances in self-determination, resilience, sense of belonging, and positive body perception.
Discussion: The results obtained are consistent with previous studies on adapted sports, reaffirming their positive effect on the personal and social development of people with disabilities. The evidence gathered supports the need to strengthen inclusive policies in the field of sports.
Conclusions: It is concluded that the "Inclusive Sport 2023" program had a favorable influence on the quality of life of participants, demonstrating its value as a strategy for inclusion and comprehensive human development.
