Resumo

As crianças nas áreas rurais da Indonésia frequentemente enfrentam desafios para melhorar a sua competência motora (CM). O acesso limitado a uma educação física de qualidade pode prejudicar esse desenvolvimento. O objetivo principal deste estudo foi comparar a CM entre crianças de 7 a 12 anos na zona rural da Indonésia, utilizando um Körperkoordinationstest für Kinder (KTK3+) modificado. Este estudo transversal envolveu 281 crianças (139 meninas e 142 meninos) com idades entre 7 e 12 anos na zona rural da Indonésia. Uma MANOVA para as pontuações motoras mostrou um efeito significativo de género e idade. Em relação à idade, a pontuação aumentou significativamente para crianças 1 ano mais velhas em todos os subtestes (p < 0,005). Assim, em relação ao género, os rapazes tiveram pontuações mais altas na coordenação olho-mão (p < 0,05) e nos movimentos laterais (p < 0,05) quando comparados com as raparigas. Além disso, também se observa uma diferença significativa no quociente motor, com 2,5% dos rapazes e 2,8% das raparigas a obterem pontuações «abaixo da média». Quando comparadas com as pontuações normativas e brutas, ambas as amostras de crianças rurais de há 48 anos obtiveram pontuações normais significativas. Os resultados deste estudo indicam um aumento na CM com a idade e destacam que as crianças nas zonas rurais da Indonésia alcançam pontuações de CM dentro da categoria «normal», de acordo com a norma KTK. Se o governo puder facilitar o desenvolvimento de talentos nessas regiões rurais, isso representará um passo importante para formar mais talentos na Indonésia na próxima década. O governo também deve prestar atenção às crianças nas zonas rurais, pois elas têm potencial e melhores movimentos para desenvolver talentos no desporto e aumentar o número de talentos disponíveis.
